Logistics and Support for USAID and World Food Programme Food Donations to Haiti
For 20 years, International Maritime and Warehouse Management (IMWM), a division of Enmarcolda S.A. has provided logistics, warehousing and support for the USAID PL-480 Title II Humanitarian Food Program, World Food Programme Food Donations to Haiti, and the Private Voluntary Organizations Food Commodity Donation Programs in Haiti.

Enmarcolda S.A., owned and operated by the d’Adesky-Lemke family, is an international logistics and warehousing corporation serving the Haitian community since the company was formed in 1961. For 20 years, IMWM division has managed an 80,000 sq. ft. central warehouse, distribution operation and trucking program for the USAID PL-480 Title II program, World Vision, Catholic Relief Services and World Food Programme. The central warehouse is located in Port-au-Prince 1/2 mile from the APN port.

Throughout the years, IMWM division has received, warehoused and distributed between 30,000 to 80,000 metric tons of food commodities per year to over one million beneficiaries for the humanitarian agencies.

USAID PL-480 Title II program provides for the donation of U.S. agricultural commodities by the U.S. government to meet humanitarian food needs in foreign countries. Commodities may be provided to meet emergency needs under government-to-government agreements through public and private agencies, including intergovernmental organizations, and other multilateral organizations.

Employing more than 150 full time employees, IMWM division estimates that more than 1,000,000 metric tons of food has passed through its warehouse in the last 20 years. Enmarcolda’s reputation in warehousing and logistics is most evident in the fact that on many occassions The US Military has used Enmarcolda’s services, land, warehousing and trucking facilities to assist in their military operations and to support their relief efforts in major natural disasters, including the recent major earthquake of January 2010.
